NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback is an advanced brain training system that naturally maximizes the brain's innate capabilities of resilience and reorganization. The system gives the brain real-time feedback or information about itself in order to maximize efficiency. The machine helps the Central Nervous System learn from itself, without outside influence pushing information into the brain. The result is to create a more balanced and efficient system.
A typical session lasts about 45 minutes, with 33.5 minutes of actual time being hooked up to the Neurofeedback machine. The training session is painless - 5 sensors are hooked up to parts of the individual's head (ears and C3 and C4 sections of the brain) using a water-based gel. The individual then listens to music while the system is working. Most clients describe the session as quite relaxing.
I see clients for stand-alone NeurOptimal® sessions, where I am not their "therapist", I am purely there to assist in their brain training session. I also use NeurOptimal® as an augmentation to psychotherapy.
